Description

Friendly Design Co is seeking a full-time Front-End Developer. As a Friendly Developer, you’ll develop front-end web interfaces and implement websites in WordPress and other common content management systems.

Our ideal candidate has a penchant for problem solving and an excitement for getting the details just right. They can effectively document and communicate about their projects with colleagues and clients, proactively communicating with the project team about red flags, scope & timeline impacts. They appreciate design and usability, are eager to expand their skills and try new tools, and help create best practices. Our ideal candidate cares about the work that they do, its ethical implications, and the impact their work has on the world.

As a key member of our project team, you’ll collaborate with the rest of our development team, our designers, project producers, and external partners as well as client teams to ensure that website development advances the project goals, user experience, and visual design. You must be able to work independently on projects, but also collaboratively with other Friendly team members.

This position may be filled by a remote applicant in the US or near our HQ in Washington, DC or Omaha, NE.

Roles & Responsibilities

Our ideal candidate:

• Owns web development projects from start to finish, from Git repo creation through to launch
• Writes extensible, reusable, well-architectured, accessible code that works across a variety of modern devices and browsers using current best practices and a modern toolset
• Performs QA on both their own projects as well as those produced by others on the dev team
• Embraces experimentation and prototyping in their workflow
• Has a keen eye for details and takes pride in the little things that separate good and great work (the type that believes in the life-changing magic of well-commented code and GitHub readme files)
• Documents their work and creates an easy to use CMS structure for clients and partners
